GoHive Frequently Asked Questions — Full Text

    What is GoHive?

GoHive is a Regina, Saskatchewan-based rideshare service founded in 2026. Captains (drivers) keep 93% of every fare and riders pay no surge multipliers or hidden fees. GoHive operates under Saskatchewan business registration SR1961585.

    Who founded GoHive?

GoHive was founded in 2026 by Smit Thakor, a University of Regina student, after observing how much of every fare incumbent rideshare platforms took from drivers in Saskatchewan.

    Where is GoHive available?

GoHive is launching first in Regina (YQR), Saskatchewan. Saskatoon (YXE) is the next planned city. Riders and drivers in other Saskatchewan cities can join the waitlist at gohive-ride.ca.

    Is GoHive available in Saskatoon?

Saskatoon is the second city on GoHive's launch roadmap. Service is not live there yet. You can join the Saskatoon waitlist at gohive-ride.ca to be notified when rides go live.

    Is GoHive a registered business?

Yes. GoHive is registered in Saskatchewan under business number SR1961585 and operates in compliance with Regina Bylaw 2019-9 and the Saskatchewan Vehicles for Hire Act.

    How does GoHive pricing work?

GoHive uses transparent pricing with no surge multipliers and no hidden fees. The fare you are quoted at booking is the fare you pay. Pricing is based on a fixed base fare plus per-kilometre and per-minute rates.

    Does GoHive use surge pricing?

No. GoHive does not use surge multipliers. Fares stay consistent regardless of demand, weather, or time of day.

How does GoHive compare to Uber in Regina?

GoHive is locally based in Regina, charges no surge multipliers, and pays captains 93% of each fare versus the typical 60–65% on national platforms. For riders, the same trip is generally cheaper on GoHive because there is no surge and no hidden booking fee.

How do I pay for a GoHive ride?

Riders pay through the GoHive app using credit cards, debit cards, and supported digital wallets. Cash is not accepted. Receipts are emailed automatically after each ride.

How do I request a ride on GoHive?

Download the GoHive Rider app, create an account, set your pickup and destination, confirm the quoted fare, and tap Request. A nearby captain will accept and drive to your pickup location.

How much do GoHive captains earn?

Captains keep 93% of every fare on GoHive. There is no commission per trip. A flat daily subscription replaces percentage commissions, which means high-volume drivers keep significantly more of their earnings versus traditional rideshare platforms.

How do I become a GoHive captain in Regina?

Apply through gohive-ride.ca/captains. Requirements include a valid Saskatchewan Class 5 driver's licence, a Vehicle for Hire permit issued by the City of Regina, an SGI insurance policy compliant with the Saskatchewan rideshare framework, a clean driving record, and a vehicle that meets GoHive's safety and age standards.

What vehicle requirements does GoHive have?

Vehicles must be in good mechanical condition, meet City of Regina Vehicle for Hire safety standards, carry valid SGI rideshare-class insurance, and pass a GoHive vehicle inspection. Specific year and condition requirements are reviewed during the captain application.

    How often are captains paid?

GoHive captains are paid weekly via direct deposit. There are no payout fees and no minimum balance required to cash out.

Can I drive part-time on GoHive?

Yes. Captains set their own hours. There is no minimum trip count or hours-per-week requirement to remain active on the platform.

    Is GoHive safe?

Every captain on GoHive passes a background check, vehicle inspection, and document verification before being approved. Trips are tracked in real time, with in-app emergency support and trip-sharing available to riders.

    What insurance covers GoHive rides?

GoHive captains carry SGI rideshare-class insurance as required under the Saskatchewan Vehicles for Hire Act. Coverage applies during all phases of a trip — when the app is on, when matched with a rider, and during the ride itself.

    How does GoHive handle complaints?

Riders and captains can report issues through the in-app support flow or by emailing support@gohive-ride.ca. Reports are reviewed by the GoHive trust and safety team within 24 hours.
